Amon
amarth Death metal melódico/Viking Metal forma originalmente em 1988 com o nome
Scum que foi trocado para Amon amarth a partir de 1992 na suécia.
A banda
tem em sua discografia duas demos sendo elas: (Thor Arise de 1993), (The
Arrival of The Fimbul Winter de 1994), tem um Eps Sendo ele: (Sorrow Throughout
the Nine Worlds de 1996) e oito álbuns oficiais sendo eles: (Once Sent from the
Golden Hall de 1998), (The Avenger de 1999), (The Crusher de 2001), (Versus the
World de 2002), (Fate of Norns de 2004), (With Oden on Our Side de 2006), (Twilight
of the Thunder God de 2008), (Surtur Rising de 2011) e um DVD (Wrath of The
Norsemen de 2006).
Atualmente
formada por ohan Hegg-vocais, Johan
Söderberg-guitarra, Olavi Mikkonen-guitarra, Ted Lundström-baixo, Fredrik
Andersson-bateria.
Atualmente
a banda é considerada a maior banda de viking metal em atividade mas os
próprios membros da banda dizem não ser uma banda de viking metal e sim somente
de death metal melódico que apenas usam a temática viking em seus discos.
